The Adventures of a South Pole Pig: A novel of snow and courage Paperback – November 3, 2015

I'm an elementary school teacher. Since this was in the Bluestem award list this year and our school librarian recommended it as a great book for a read aloud, I purchased it for my class. They really enjoyed listening to this story! It was silly and thrilling and even tugs at your heartstrings sometimes.

I heard about this book from a few children that were reading it for One School One Community book read. I read the book and enjoyed Flora's adventures and I also enjoyed the many lessons that were woven into the story. I think that this book is a great read for young readers and am currently reading it with a group of first graders at the school I work at. The students love it!!!

There was a bit of rude language I had to edit out during the read aloud. Otherwise, it was cute. My five year old enjoyed it as a follow-up read to Charlotte's Web.

We are studying growth mindset at our school. This novel has great examples of that as Flora strives to be more than what people thought she was meant to be.

Fantastic book. Read it with my 7 year old. Heads up, it deals with death a little bit, so you may have to pause and have some conversations.

What a pig! This book is one of the best books I have ever read. The friendship between the animals is amazing. This book also gives a lesson about never giving up on yourself and your dreams. One of the best children's books I have ever read. As a grandparent, I truly hope children will read this book. It's adventurous as well as a teaching tool.

This book is cute! Very different story that tells the lesson of "Follow your dreams, no matter how crazy they may be" and "Be who you feel you are on the inside."

Excellent book, for boys as well, probably age 9-11.
