I tried on the bilt version of these compression shirts and I can say that somehow this cheaper TMS one DOES fit better and feel
To call what is presented here a "sizing chart" is an insult to both charts and the activity of sizing things. hopefully more people who buy this thing will give more info as to WHY these things don't fit.I'm 5'9" 250(ish). I ordered an XXL. the thing is ALL OVER the place. tight in the....well everywhere (not uncomfortably so, but sumbitch is snug), and the back protector is a bit long. though it is supposed to offer tail protection...at the length it is it will definitely do that.getting into it isn't THAT difficult, but getting out by yourself is an impressive feat to say the least. requires a LOT of wiggling and contortions that may be a bit much after a hard day of riding. make sure you practice getting out of this thing with a friend.I tried on the bilt version of these compression shirts and I can say that somehow this cheaper TMS one DOES fit better and feels better. the shoulder pads on the bilt one seemed like they were from a kid's model....very tiny, dug into you a good bit.as to the build. the pads actually sit where they should, they don't pinch or bind (yet)....the shoulder pads feel adequate as do the elbow pads. not quite as sturdy feeling as the cheap $12 pair of bilt charger pads I have. but I think these will still help. as previously stated, the TMS is SNUG, especially in the arms. the "kidney belt" (it's kind of low for kidneys) actually does fit around me, which was a surprise (I'm a bit round). the TIGTHEST places are in the arms though, especially in the pits (elbow ditch included) but I think some judicious application of scissors will help that. there are some loose threads and bits from where the mesh was finished being knitted and seamed that are dangling around. on the FIRST attempt getting the thing on one of the zippers holding the back plate on broke (the little metal end of the zipper that kind of like, ends off the zipper popped off) so i'll have to fix that or ditch the back plate (which is pretty thin, but I'd bet it would survive a slide).all around all the padding could be thicker to make you feel better about it's abilities...but then it would fit even worse.good for the price....but....it sure can't be called nice

For guys who wear large because they don't like snug fitting clothing will find the torso fitting big ...
So let me start with the size issue on this vest. This vest was made for motorcycle wearing protection, if wish to be a ninja turtle for Halloween then this review is not for you. As anything made to be worn for motorcycle riding (sport motorcycle) it must be snug. If you want baggy or loose wearing clothing become a rapper or put it on a sail boat because otherwise, this vest will be a snug fit.Since this vest is supposed to fit snug you would assume the material would accommodate accordingly right? Well of course not because this is a 1/4 of the price of a real brand name vest. So the problem that you will find with a vest that's made in China with Asian measurements is that is it completely not tailored for American bodies. Starting with the arms, if you wear large then you will have to order 3 sizes up and still find a snug fit with the back almost ripping off. For guys who wear large because they don't like snug fitting clothing will find the torso fitting big if they go 3 sizes up.For me, I wear medium and small so I order large and it fits snug. The waist is a bit loose but can be adjusted. The problem for me was the zippers that keep the back protector strapped secured would unzip on my right side the minute in put the vest on. I had to epoxy both ends in order to keep the back protector from coming unzipped. I read a review of a guy who was around 5'5 who wears small order xx large and it worked for him but that means the torso and waist would fit extra loose. This vest is a toss up for most adult guys. In comparison, the Icon Stryker Rig has better material with a better fit and the $260 price tag says it should. So for a vest that's less than $40, any discrepancies should be taken with a grain of salt. I haven't ridden with it yet but I know once I do it would be coming apart the minute I take it off because the material and stitching is disposable.BTW, I ride a Ducati Diavel so yes, I ride aggressively.

Yeah, sizes are way off
The other reviewers are not kidding. I'm usually a medium, ordered a large, and it was still a bit too small. Am sending it back for a refund and will order an Extra Large. It'll be the first time I've EVER been considered extra large. The armor itself seems pretty good. The mesh is not as thin and fragile as I thought it would be, and it feels like the armor will do a good job of protecting you against a spill. It's very breathable, and thus good for warm or hot weather.I'll update this when I get the extra large and have had a chance to actually ride with it.UPDATE: 08/22/2013Free refunds! Yay!So the XL size is about perfect. Still needed to spend some time making adjustments, but once I got everything right it fit perfectly. As I said earlier, it's breathable, but you pretty much have to be moving in order to cool off. I have not had a crash or anything in the past month or so, so I cannot say from experience how well this would protect, but I would guess that it's better than nothing. The armor plates seem hard enough, but if you slide on the pavement at the wrong angle, the mesh might give away and you might lose pieces of armor if it's a real long slide. Sliding on your back or front should actually be ok, although honestly, I don't want to find out.Incidentally, my son pointed out that this was the exact same armor the security detail wore on a TV show called "Terra Nova". I guess I also have my next Halloween costume.
